Ana Guijarro was born in Madrid and she started her piano studies with Antonio Lucas Moreno and Carmen Díez Martín, from whom she received an important influence.
In 1977, she moved to Rome as an intern for the Spanish Academy, working under the direction of Guido Agosti and, one year after, she moved again to Paris. She continued her studies at École Normale de Musique, with Marian Rybicki. She graduated in 1981, obtaining a Special Prize for the Best Interpretation of Chopin.
She obtained, among others, the María Canals Young Award (Ars Nova, in 1973), a Honorary Mention at the Concurso Internacional de Santander Paloma O´Shea (1978), Diploma at the International Chopin Piano Competition (Varsovia, 1980) and was a finalist at Internacional Premio Jaén Piano ( 1976 ).
In 1991 she was introduced at the Wigmore Hall of London along the violoncellist Gregory Walmsley, obtaining significant appraise from audience and critics.
Apart from many recitals in Spain, she has acted in England, France, Austria, Italy, Poland or Portugal, as well as in the USA and Canada. She was invited for acting as a soloist with the Oporto National Orchestra, Montreal Chamber Players in Canada, London Simphony, as well as the most important Spanish orchestra. She acted under the baton of José Luis Temes, E. Martínez Izquierdo, V. Sutej, Collin Metters, Yuri Simonov, M. Groba, Leo Brower, P. Halffter.
She usually gives master classes for national and international entities, as Colgate University in the state of New York, Aula de Música (Universidad de Alcalá), Escuela de Música Berenguela (Santiago de Compostela), Matisse International Music Course (San Lorenzo de El Escorial) or Fundación Eutherpe (León).
She is a Piano professor since 1983 and was the Director of Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid froom 2012 to 2013.
